What does newborn photography mean to me?

What does newborn photography mean to me?

First of all, it's a huge honour for me to be one of the first people in your circle to admire and get to know your little treasure.

Those tiny fingers that can already grip so surprisingly firmly. The little feet. The delicate features. And that unmistakable, wonderful baby smell.

A newborn fills me with awe, every single time.
The wonders of nature are rarely as visible as they are in a tiny human who has only just arrived in this world.

A life resting in its parents' arms.
A little person you created.

And maybe that's exactly why I approach these moments with so much respect and care.
Your little treasures are so incredibly delicate and precious. That's why it matters to me to handle them gently, and to give them all the time and closeness they need.

I'm also always glad to have your help along the way – because nobody knows your baby better than you do.

Since I'm not a mother myself yet, I can only imagine what it must feel like to suddenly hold this tiny being in your arms.
A being that was part of you for nine months.
That you created.
And that will now be part of your life forever.

I think that's exactly what moves me so much about newborn photography.
That, for one brief moment, I get to be part of a time that will never come back in quite the same way.

Those tiny fingers will grow.
Those little feet will one day walk through the world.
And this little person will grow older.

But the memory of how it all began gets to stay.
